A Picnic in Clapham Common, London

wardrobe challenge: day ten. photo credit: Brendan Croft

{skirt: vintage (shortened by me), shoes: Asos, camisole: Primark, cardigan: H&M, necklace: gift from a friend, key pendant: gift from Brendan (Tiffany & Co.), antique key: random antique store in the Barossa Valley, sunglasses: Von Zipper}

Today was another beautiful sunny day, and we were invited to a friend’s birthday picnic in the park, so I made the most of it by wearing another skirt (daring, I know!). I’ve been dying to wear this skirt which I bought at a vintage fair and shortened to above-the-knee length. It’s a cute, springtime pattern of flowers and raspberries (I know the above picture is hard to see, so take a look at the below, which is the skirt as it was when I bought it). I felt great in this outfit, but about halfway through the day it struck me how much my taste has changed in the past few years – even the past year. I never used to wear skirts (with the exception of weddings), hardly wore patterns, and certainly didn’t combine this many colours all at once! I’m really glad that I’m becoming more adventurous in my style, and trying new, fun looks.

Apparently the hot weather is not going to last past tomorrow, so this might be the last of my summery outfits for a while. But hey, I’m an expert in cold-weather clothes by now!!
