Popping to Andorra for Lunch

When we woke up in Carcassonne, the previous night’s rain had not yet subsided so we were glad we had a full day of driving ahead of us rather than any outdoor activities. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast of brioche, baguettes and homemade jam with fresh coffee at our B&B before jumping in the over-packed car and hitting the motorway once more:

overloaded

Our destination for the day was Pamplona (more to come on the crazy antics that happened there in my next post), but we had no time constraints, so we decided to take the long way in order to get to a country that none of us had visited before: Andorra. I may have mentioned this before, but one of my biggest goals in life is to visit more countries than my Mum has been to – I can’t remember her number but I believe it’s in the thirties somewhere – I’m at a mere 22, so any opportunity to increase that is a huge achievement for me. We drove for about 5 hours and by the time we reached the tiny mountain-bound country I was feeling car-sick and trying to stay awake. We found a cafe that was close to where we parked the car and had a shamefully English meal of chicken and chips before returning to the vehicle and driving the short distance to Spain.

total country count: 23

Although I was really happy to add another country to my list, I wouldn’t hurry back to Andorra (unless I wanted a plethora of gas stations with cheap prices); it was pleasant enough, but not dramatically different to France on one side or Spain on the other. We drove for another 4 hours or so to get to Pamplona and saw many varied landscapes: from mountains to farmland, then deserts and small towns…and arrived just in time to find some costumes for the following day before the shops closed. We were due for a very early morning (again…I thought this was a holiday!) so bed was calling…

…for those of you wondering how I can claim to be a style blog when I never post anything related to such a topic, here’s a quick pic of my outfit on day 5. Comfy, light and not too ‘travel-looking’:

top: Primark, trousers: thrifted from Traid (Gap), shoes: H&M, watch: present from Brendan (Toy), necklace: Bueno Style

Keep following to find out all about our Pamplona experience and, of course, le Tour de France! I’m on twitter: @elle_croft, on Bloglovin’ and there’s a Facebook page for [a bird in the hand] you can check out too! I’ll be posting again as soon as I can. But for now, au revoir.

OR…return to Andorra if you want to go skiing/snowboarding.

We went in Feb and it was pretty awesome. Up until my bf suggested Andorra for a trip, I had never heard of it, nor knew where it was!
